Children's Book Week 2026
CBCA Children's Book Week
The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) is a national organisation that promotes literature and literacy across Australia. Established in 1945, the CBCA was founded at a time when Australian children's books were scarce and local authors and illustrators were unknown. In 1946, the organisation launched the Book of the Year Awards to recognise outstanding literary and artistic achievements.
Throughout the year, the CBCA brings together children and books through various initiatives, including Children's Book Week, an annual celebration of reading and storytelling. The CBCA partners with authors, illustrators, publishers, booksellers, and other organisations to promote a love of reading and a deeper appreciation for the world of children's literature.
